Senior Citizen Friendly
The organisers of Group bookings should note that we have an urn, table and seating
if the group would like to make a cuppa. (No extra cost) A new covered BBQ area is also available with
two electric BBQ’s and a hot water dispenser.(No extra cost)

Disabled
Five wheelchair ramps: 6 buildings are ground level. Remainder have no more
than four steps, all with hand rails.
Double Disabled access toilets are available on site.

Schools
Schools are welcome anytime. An average of 25 classes visit each year.
Mostly Grade 4, local and country, they are given an educational tour through the
buildings by Museum volunteers, overseen by teachers and aides.
Blacksmith, Corn Shelling , Rope Making & Woodturning demonstrations are available for all groups

Staff
There are no paid staff at the Historical Village & Museum. All members are volunteers.

Ambassador Cards
If you are local and expect to bring family or friends to the Village in the future, ask our Reception about our Ambassador Cards. It is free to aquire one and when you present it on your next visit you will get in for a reduced rate. (Bring one paying visitor and it’s half price, bring two paying visitors and get in for free.

Awards
The Hervey Bay Historical Village & Museum in 1988 received an award for excellence.
This is a highly valued prize from the International Council of Museums.

In 2006 , 2007 and 2008 we won the Fraser Coast & South Burnett Tourism Award for the
Heritage & Cultural Tourism Category. In 2009 we were inducted into the “Hall of Fame”.
In 2015 we were awarded “Australia Day Award, Community Event” for our 40th Birthday event in 2014.
