Front Building

Built about 1880. The Centenary Plate was made 1888. Uranganite 600 million years old gemstone from coloured sands, found Airport area, Urangan. 2 Photos’ of Boyle & Sarah MARTIN, Married 1864 Boyle was 24, Sarah 20, the first European Settlers to live in Hervey Bay 1865.

Ambulance Room

Display of old medical equipment, medicines and features the “DUCIE” Collection. (Mention the 5 prints of George Raper on 1st Fleet, 1788 on display discovered in 2005 at TORTWORTH by current Earl, David Moreton). The collection now in National Library, Canberra.

Buggy Room

The ANGUS Buggy built 1879,restored by Norm & Joan Christensen in 1984

Slab Cottage

Originally built for the Rackeman family in 1898 at Home Creek via Tingoora, near Kingaroy, original condition and containing many display items from the late 1890s period.
No electricity, tap water, glass windows or bathroom. Look outside for the water pump over the well.

Time Capsules

Time Capsules 1988
Bi-Centenary project. WW11 mark 36 Mine sealed 1988 to be opened 2088.
Second Time Capsule (Black marble head stone)
Hervey Bay 150th Birthday Celebrations held at the Hervey Bay Historical Village and Museum-
The Governor of Queensland Ms Penelope Wensley AC is assisted by Monika Gausel,8, burying the time capsule.(To be opened in 2063)

Mattress Shed

Various items related to local products including bottling machines and a wire mattress weaving machine owned by Charles Popp,
Washing machines and stoves, refrigerators

Dairy 1889

Originally owned by Mr Christiansen on his 160 acre farm opposite where Main St. meets Booral Rd. Built 1898, it contains implements used in the early days of dairying, old churns, glass milk bottles etc.

Acutt Cottage

1920’s cottage owned by Dr Acutt ( a lady doctor) and sold for $200 when she purchased land in Torquay Rd. for a Medical Centre. The wood burning stove, ice chest, bedroom furniture and clothes are in keeping with that era. Ice chests were used in areas where there was no electricity to keep food cool. Stop on ramp and see small native stingless bees on your left.

Blacksmith

Features working blacksmith shop, Treadle operated Wood turning lathe.
Comb making machine, (only one in Australia, used to make combs from animal HORN.
Demonstrations Sundays, 1pm to 3pm

Plumbing gear, templates. sheet forming machines

Corn Display

Corn demonstration area. Demonstrations Sundays, 1pm to 3pm
There are over 3500 uses for corn products today.
Note the treadle operated wood lathe at the front.
