Step into the past at the Hervey Bay Historical Village & Museum and discover one of the Fraser Coast’s most unique heritage experiences. Located in Scarness, the village offers a fascinating collection of historic buildings, objects and displays that help tell the story of life in Hervey Bay and the wider Wide Bay region.

The Hervey Bay Historical Village & Museum is located at 13 Zephyr Street, Scarness, Hervey Bay QLD 4655.

Opening Hours

Friday and Saturday: 1:00pm – 4:30pm
Sunday: 10:30am – 4:30pm
Open during all Queensland school and public holidays, except Christmas Day and Good Friday.

Admission

Adults: $15.00
Children (14 and under): $5.00
Children under school age: Free

Special event pricing may apply on selected days such as fairs and fundraisers.

Demonstrations

On Sundays from 1:00pm to 3:00pm, volunteers present interactive demonstrations such as blacksmithing, corn shelling and rope making. Demonstrations may vary depending on volunteer availability and special event schedules.

Groups and Schools

Schools are welcome at any time, with museum volunteers providing educational tours through the village and its buildings. Group bookings are also welcome, and organisers can make use of the urn, seating and covered BBQ area at no extra cost.

Accessibility and Facilities

The museum has wheelchair ramps to several buildings, with many others at ground level or accessible by only a few steps with handrails. Accessible toilet facilities are available on site, along with picnic and BBQ facilities for visitors and groups.

Please allow enough time to explore the village, as entry after 3:30pm may not allow enough time to see all displays and buildings properly. Special event pricing may apply on selected days such as fairs, exhibitions and fundraising events.
