Events

Events at the Historical Village are held at different times of the year. We always have a major event on Australia Day each year. This is a family fun day and the children get involved in games of yesteryear including Quoits, Horse shoe throwing, Thong throwing, Stilts and Billy cart racing.
We have held three Country Music Musters with great local support. Local  and interstate musicians entertain the crowd while at the same time, all of our buildings are open for display.
In September we usually hold a themed event based around our collection. We invite outside artists and craftsmen to join with us and these have included a Chain Saw Woodcarver (Keith Gall) and Clydesdale horses from the Maryborough Harness Club, which both proved extremely popular.

2013 saw us host the Hervey Bay 150th Birthday celebrations with the Governor of Queensland, Ms Penelope Wensley QC as our honoured guest, along with many local Councillors and State and federal members. This was an extremely well attended event and saw a new time capsule buried on the day to be opened in 2063.
In 2014 we held our own 40th Birthday celebrations. The pictures following are just a sample of the good times had by all.
Each Christmas we hold a “Carols in the Village ” which is a fundraiser for a local charity. As of 2014 we had raised over $15000 for various groups, including The Salvation Army and the Riding forthe Disabled.
